U.S. Soccer posted the induction speeches of the five men who were enshrined in the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Saturday in Foxborough, Mass.
That includes Milwaukee coaching legend Bob Gansler, who was voted into the Hall in the builder category for his contributions to the game in the U.S.
Gansler's 17-minute speech is a history lesson, with topics ranging from playing at Bavarian SC in his youth to leading the U.S. national team to the 1990 World Cup – the country's first appearance in the world's marquee event in 40 years – and coaching in Major League Soccer.
He also discussed the present and future of coaching in the U.S. and had some fun with a few longtime friends in the crowd. The first person an emotional Gansler thanked was his wife, Nancy.
