Lindsay TarpleyU.S. women's national team coach Pia Sundhage named her 21-player roster for this summer's Women's World Cup on Monday, and forward Abby Wambach is the top goal-scorer on the squad.

Who's second on the roster when it comes to career goals? None other than Madison native Lindsay Tarpley.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who plays for magicJack in Women's Professional Soccer, earned a spot on the Women's World Cup roster for the second time. She made three appearances in the 2007 tournament in China, including one start.

Tarpley has 32 goals in 124 caps, but went 15 months between national team appearances after suffering a torn ACL in her right knee in August 2009. She's won two Olympic gold medals with the U.S., in 2004 and '08.

The U.S. plays Japan in friendlies Saturday in Columbus, Ohio (5:30 p.m., Fox Soccer Channel) and May 18 in Cary, N.C. (6 p.m., ESPN2) and faces Mexico on June 5 in Harrison, N.J. (1 p.m., ESPN2) before heading to Austria to train ahead of the Women's World Cup in Germany.

The Americans, ranked first in the FIFA world rankings, open Group C play June 28 against North Korea (10:45 a.m.). Their other group matches are against Colombia on July 2 (10:30 a.m.) and Sweden on July 6 (1:30 p.m.) – all U.S. matches will be shown on ESPN.
