Midfielder Marta Wangard (Brookfield), who has verbally committed to play for the University of Wisconsin women's soccer team in 2012, will participate in a U.S. Soccer Training Center session Sunday in Tampa, Fla.
U.S. Soccer uses the invitation-only program to help identify potential players for U.S. youth national teams. Each session includes between 22 and 26 players coached by national program staff.
Wangard, who plays for the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., also was part of a Training Center session in November.
"It seems like there are a lot of league ID programs out there, like the id2, or the ODP (which I was part of), but it is really nice to be directly identified by the USSF, and we'll see where it goes," Wangard wrote in an e-mail.
Looking ahead, Wangard said she hopes to play for the Madison 56ers in the Women's Premier Soccer League this summer.
