Lindsay Tarpley (Madison) will continue with the U.S. women's national team, as the midfielder was called into a week-long training camp that starts Thursday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Tarpley and the other 20 players who were on the American roster for the recent Four Nations tournament in China are included in the 31-player roster named by coach Pia Sundhage.
After the camp, Sundhage will select 23 players to travel to the Algarve Cup in Portugal – the U.S. plays Japan on March 2, Finland on March 4 and Norway on March 7 before a placement match. The Americans have won six of the past eight titles at the tournament and finished second the other two years.
Tarpley scored in her only appearance in the Four Nations tournament, netting the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Canada on Jan. 23.
