Midfielder Lindsay Tarpley (Madison) is one of 23 players named to the U.S. Women's National Team roster for the Four Nations Tournament, which starts next Friday in Chongqing, China.
Tarpley, who has 30 goals in 120 career caps, played only one match for the national team after returning from a torn ACL in her right knee suffered in August 2009.
The U.S. opens the tournament against Sweden, one of its opponents in next summer's Women's World Cup in Germany, at 1:35 a.m. next Friday. The Americans then take on border rival Canada at 5:05 a.m. Jan. 23 and closes the event against host China at 4:35 a.m. Jan. 25.
Boston Breakers midfielder Leslie Osborne (Brookfield/Waukesha Catholic Memorial) also was part of the team's recent six-day training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., but wasn't selected for the Four Nations Tournament roster.
Tarpley is not currently under contract with a Women's Professional Soccer club, but is rumored to possibly be joining the newly renamed Washington Freedom/magicJack FC.
