Lauren Sesselmann (Green Bay Notre Dame) played the full 90 minutes at left back Saturday night as Canada tied Brazil 0-0 in the final match of Group B play at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The teams shared the group title, as both teams went 2-0-1 with four goals scored and one allowed in three games. Lots were drawn to determine placement for the semifinals and Canada ended up as the No. 2 seed from Group B and will play Group A winner Colombia in Tuesday's semifinals, while Brazil faces Group A runner-up Mexico. The gold- and bronze-medal matches are Thursday.
Diamond Simpson, who is headed to the University of Wisconsin next season, came on as a sub in the 77th minute Saturday for her fourth cap and first appearance in the Pan Am Games. Sesselmann, a Green Bay native, made her fifth international appearance after gaining dual citizenship last year.
Sesselmann played the final 5 minutes in Thursday's 1-0 win over Argentina, while Marquette's Vanessa Legault-Cordisco came on at halftime for her second cap.
