Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay) scored his second career international goal Tuesday night, putting the finishing touches on Canada's 3-0 road victory over Puerto Rico in a CONCACAF World Cup 2014 qualifier in Bayamon.
The 24-year-old Ricketts earned his sixth cap, coming on as a sub in the 84th minute. Fellow substitute Simeon Jackson scored the Canadians' second goal moments later, and Ricketts added a third in the third minute of stoppage time.
Ricketts, who plays for FC Politehnica Timişoara in the Romanian second division, scored his first international goal June 1 to give Canada a 2-2 draw with Ecuador in a friendly.
Canada leads Group D of CONCACAF Stage 2 qualifying with six points from two matches, followed by St. Kitts and Nevis (1-0-1), Puerto Rico (0-1-1) and St. Lucia (0-2-0). The next round of matches are Oct. 7 and 11. Only the group winner advances to the next round of qualifying, which includes regional powers Mexico and the United States.
