The 2011 All-Big Eight Conference girls soccer team is one of the most accomplished groups of players in recent memory.
Four players made the all-conference first team for the third straight year, another was chosen for the third time in her career and two more were repeat selections in voting done by conference coaches.
Madison La Follette senior forward Morgan LaPlant heads up the group. The UW-Milwaukee recruit, who was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year, was the only unanimous pick on the 11-member top squad.
She made the team for third consecutive season, along with senior goalkeeper Katy Pilarzyk and senior defender Dana Robertson of Big Eight champion Madison Memorial and senior defender Abby Juzwik of Verona.
La Follette senior defender Elise Olson landed on the team for the third time, having also been selected in 2008 and '10. All four of those seniors are NCAA Division I recruits: Juzwik and Pilarzyk are headed to UW-Green Bay in the fall, while Robertson will play at UNC-Charlotte and Olson is an Illinois State recruit.
Juzwik had the distinction of being a four-time, first-team all-conference pick, as she was named to the All-Southern Badger team as a freshman in 2008 before the Wildcats moved to the Big Eight.
Verona senior midfielder Rachel Cropp also was on the 2008 All-Southern Badger team, and joined Memorial junior midfielder McKenna Meuer as a repeat choice on this year's All-Big Eight side.
