It was an incredible season for the Mount Horeb boys soccer team.
The Vikings, who won their first WIAA Division 2 state championship, claimed seven of the 11 spots on the All-Northern Badger Conference team.
Mount Horeb went 3-0-2 to win its second straight conference title, outscoring opponents 20-1 in the process, and had five of the eight unanimous choices in voting done by the six Northern Badger coaches.
Senior defender Cooper Patton was a unanimous selection for the second straight year, along with Sauk Prairie senior midfielder Jeremy Hish (13 goals, 2 assists) and Waunakee junior defender Casey Grosshauser. They were the only repeat picks from the 2010 first team.
The Vikings (20-2-2) had four players reach double figures in both goals and assists on the season, and all of them made the top squad: senior forwards Patrick Ruhland (34-17) and Aaron Fargo (21-22), senior midfielder Nick Gasser (11-13) and junior midfielder Connor DeHaven (14-11).
Ruhland earned conference honors for the third time, as he also was a first-teamer in 2009 and was part of the second team last fall. Patton and Hish also were lauded for the third consecutive season, having been honorable mention in 2009.
Five members of last year's second team moved up to the top squad this season as seniors: Ruhland, Fargo and defender Cordell Spellman from Mount Horeb and defender Adam Laux and midfielder Tyler Henke of Baraboo. DeHaven, meanwhile, was honorable mention in 2010.
Ruhland, Gasser, DeHaven, Spellman and Laux also were unanimous choices on the team, which featured Mount Horeb senior Peter Hefty as the first-team goalkeeper.
