Milwaukee MarquetteMilwaukee Marquette, which went 24-0-1 en route to winning its second straight WIAA Division 1 state championship, finished the season in the top five in both national prep boys soccer rankings.

The Hilltoppers remained third in the ESPNHS Powerade Fab 50 rankings and fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll on Tuesday as both outlets released their final rankings of the fall season.

Newark St. Benedict's Prep, N.J. (20-0-0) and Hyattsville DeMatha Catholic, Md. (20-0-0) shared the No. 1 spot in the final NSCAA poll, with New York Martin Luther King (19-0-0) third. St. Benedict's was first and DeMatha second in the ESPNHS rankings.

It's the best finish for Marquette in four appearances in the final NSCAA poll of the year – the Hilltoppers finished sixth in 2003, seventh in 2008 and 16th in 2005. Most likely, it also is the second-best ranking for a Wisconsin team, as Brookfield East finished the season ranked first in 1995, but complete records are not available.

Marquette was the top-ranked team in the NSCAA Region VI poll, which also included Middleton (21-4-2) at No. 10, WIAA Division 1 state runner-up Kettle Moraine (19-7-2) at No. 12, Brookfield East (21-5-0) at No. 14 and Neenah (20-4-2) at No. 15.
