Prep BoysMilwaukee Marquette senior forward Joe Naughton has one more prep soccer game to play this year.

Naughton was one of 40 senior boys soccer players across the country selected for the inaugural High School All-American Game, which is scheduled for Dec. 10 in Birmingham, Ala.

A national committee of 20 coaches chose the players, many of whom have or will receive all-state or All-American honors for their performances during the fall season.

Naughton was a first-team, all-state selection by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association after scoring nine goals and adding seven assists in helping the Hilltoppers (24-0-1) win their second consecutive WIAA Division 1 state title. He also will be on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region VI team when it is announced.

The players will attend the NCAA Men's College Cup semifinals on Dec. 9 and the final on Dec. 11. Naughton is on the West team for the game, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 10 on the Alabama-Birmingham West Campus Field.

  • The 2012 Wisconsin Masonic All-Star Games will be held July 28 at UW-Whitewater, with the girls game at 11 a.m. and the boys match at 1 p.m. The annual free youth camp for underprivileged children ages 11 to 13 is scheduled for July 26 to 28, with the all-star teams set to train on July 27. It will be the 21st year of the games for top state's top graduated seniors, which were held in Middleton this year.
  • Marquette remained third in the ESPN RISE Fab 50 and fourth in the NSCAA national poll this week. The Hilltoppers continue to lead the NSCAA Region VI rankings, too, while Middleton (21-4-2) is 10th, Kettle Moraine (19-7-2) is 12th, Brookfield East (21-5-0) is 14th and Neenah (20-4-2) is 15th. Marquette in all likelihood will surpass the best final ranking in program history – sixth, in 2003 – when the last NSCAA polls of the season are released next Tuesday.
