Fox Point's Mateo Stoka was part of a U.S. Soccer boys national team Futures Camp last month in Carson, Calif.

The camp from May 26 to 30 included 64 players born in 2002 and 2003 and was led by Tony Lepore, who was named the U.S. Soccer Director of Talent Identification in March. The camp curriculum formulated around highlighting each player's unique talents while challenging them to improve their decision making and speed of play, raising their tactical awareness and improving their technical execution.

Stoka, a forward who was born in 2003, has six goals in 20 appearances (17 starts) for the Sockers FC Chicago Under-13 team in U.S. Soccer Development Academy play this season.

  • Sunderland defender Sam Brotherton (UW) is on the New Zealand roster for the FIFA Confederations Cup, which starts June 17 in Russia. The 20-year-old, who left the Badgers in February after two seasons to join Sunderland, was an unused sub in the All Whites' 1-0 loss to Northern Ireland in a friendly Friday and came on in the 59th minute of a 5-2 win over Cabinteely FC on Tuesday in Dublin. New Zealand takes on Belarus on Monday in Minsk to conclude its preparation for the Confederations Cup. Oceania Football Confederation champion New Zealand is in Group A for the eight-team tournament and faces Russia on June 17 (10 a.m.), Mexico on June 21 and Portugal on June 24 – all three matches will air live on Fox Sports 1. • Boston Breakers midfielder Rose Lavelle (UW) is in Scandinavia for a pair of friendlies with the U.S. women's national team, which will take on Sweden on Thursday (12:30 p.m., ESPN2) and Norway on Sunday (noon on Fox). Lavelle, who turned 22 last month, has earned four caps for the U.S. this year and picked up the first goal and assist of her international career in April. On Twitter: @roselavelle
  • Chicago Fire midfielder Matt Polster (Milwaukee) is on the preliminary 40-man U.S. roster for this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. The final 23-man roster for the tournament must be submitted no later than June 27, and all players on the final list must come from the preliminary roster. The 23-year-old Polster was part of a U.S. training camp in January 2016, but hasn't earned a cap.
  • Forward Tosaint Ricketts (UW-Green Bay) was named to Canada's 27-man roster for a training camp and a friendly against Curaçao next Tuesday in Montreal, but was removed from the roster after suffering a hamstring injury in Toronto FC's 4-0 win over the Ottawa Fury in a Canadian Championship match last Wednesday. The team announced Monday that Ricketts, who has three goals in his past four league appearances, is expected to be sidelined 3-4 weeks. Ricketts is also on Canada's preliminary 40-man Gold Cup roster. On Twitter: @TosaintRicketts
  • Kacey White, who was the UW-Green Bay women's coach in 2014, recently was named the U.S. Under-16 girls national team coach. White, a former U.S. international and professional player, led the Phoenix to an 11-7-2 record in her lone season and was the head coach at Xavier last fall.
