James "C" Nortey (Marquette) closed out his very brief first season as a professional soccer player in the best way possible.
The 24-year-old came on for the final 19 minutes of Akademisk Boldklub's season finale last Saturday and scored his first goal as a pro to seal the home team's 6-4 victory over Fremad Amager in a Danish Second Division promotion round match. (Watch below)
Nortey made substitute appearances in each of the club's final three games after signing with the club in early June following five weeks of training. AB clinched promotion to the second-tier First Division for next season in May and finished six points clear at the top of the 12-team promotion round table with a 12-2-2 record.
In the 90th minute Saturday, Nortey peeled away from a defender in the box and raced to a ball slotted to the right post. Sliding in, he initially touched the ball onto the post, but he was so open that he had plenty of time to stand up and tap it in. The Ghanaian then celebrated his first goal with a front flip followed by a back flip.
