Marquette midfielder Morgan Proffitt is headed to England.

Proffitt was named to the U.S. Under-23 women's national team for next month's Under-23 Women's Nordic Tournament at St. George's Park National Football Center in Tatenhill, Burton upon Trent, approximately 140 miles north of London.

The U.S. side, led by Illinois coach Janet Rayfield, will travel to England on Saturday and face its counterparts from Sweden next Thursday, Norway on June 4 and host England on June 7 in the tournament. It's the second Under-23 call-up for Proffitt, who was part of a training camp with the team from May 1 to 7 in Charlottesville, Va.

"It's setting the bar higher for myself, playing against the best in the country," Proffitt said of her first youth national team experience. "The first two or three days of camp I was nervous and second-guessing myself on a lot of things that I normally do well. The training camp really helped me see what I needed to work on and it will hopefully help me going into the fall."

A native of Columbus, Ind., Proffitt scored three goals in 2015 and has five goals in 63 appearances (61 starts) in her three seasons for the Golden Eagles. She was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Northeast Region selection and made the All-Big East Conference first team as a defender last fall.
