Six state boys players, five of them from FC Wisconsin Nationals, are among 23 players selected for a U.S. Soccer Training Center on Tuesday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill.

Collin Bjerke (Oregon), Erich Legut, Colin Satchie (Mequon), Jordan Stump and Luke Thew of FC Wisconsin and Takumi Ikeda (Madison) of the Chicago Fire will be part of the session for players with 2001 and 2002 birthdates, which will be led by U.S. Under-14 national team coach Brian Johnson.

U.S. Soccer holds approximately 250 training centers per year across the country to improve talent identification and evaluation, player development and coaching development. All of the players chosen for Tuesday's training session are from one of four clubs: FC Wisconsin, Chicago Fire, Chicago Magic PSG and Sockers FC.

  • Two SC Waukesha girls players will be spending Thanksgiving in Florida. Kylie Sprecher (Menomonee Falls) and Katie Koker (Racine) were named to the Region II rosters for the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Thanksgiving Interregional, which is Nov. 21 to 27 in Boca Raton. Sprecher, a First XI selection on the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association All-State Team as a sophomore last spring, has verbally committed to Marquette for 2017 and was named to the Region II 1998 team. Koker is part of the 2000 regional side. The teams will train and play against teams from each of the other three U.S. Youth Soccer regionals at the event.
