Sarah Hagen (Appleton North/UW-Milwaukee) opened the scoring as FC Kansas City held off host Sky Blue FC 3-2 in its National Women's Soccer League regular season finale Wednesday night in Piscataway Township, N.J.

Making just her second start in the past nine matches, Hagen made an early impact by scoring in the 5th minute. Heather O'Reilly found Amy Rodriguez, whose cross past two defenders left Hagen with a tap-in for her fourth goal of the season.

Defending NWSL champion FC Kansas City (9-6-5) already had clinched a playoff spot and is unbeaten in its past six (4-0-2) heading into the postseason. The Seattle Reign (12-3-4) wrapped up the top seed in the four-team playoffs, while the Chicago Red Stars (8-3-8) and the Washington Spirit (8-5-6) also will play in the postseason.
