The panel of coaches that selected the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association girls all-state team couldn't come to a consensus on the state's top player this season.

As a result, Waukesha Catholic Memorial senior goalkeeper Cassidy Lentz and Waukesha West junior forward Dani Rhodes were named Co-Players of the Year.

Rhodes, who had 44 goals and 11 assists for the Wolverines, claimed the Gatorade Wisconsin Player of the Year award last month.

Lentz finished with a 0.52 goals-against average and allowed just 11 goals for the Crusaders, who repeated as WIAA Division 3 state champions and became just the second team win WIAA titles in four straight seasons. The four-year starter, who is headed to Loyola (Ill.) in the fall, is the first keeper to earn WSCA player of the year honors since Middleton's Lauren Gunderson in 2008.

Rhodes and Lentz lead the all-state First XI – they are among seven players named to the top team this season after being Best of the Rest selections a year ago.

Waunakee junior defender Jada Dayne was the only repeat selection, making the first team for the third consecutive season. Dayne, who has verbally committed to Michigan for 2016, scored seven goals and also played in the midfield and up top.

The lone sophomore on the First XI was forward Kylie Sprecher, who finished with 30 goals and 12 assists in helping Menomonee Falls advance to the Division 1 state semifinals – Sprecher has verbally committed to Marquette for 2017.

Schofield D.C. Everest senior defender Gabi Kitchell was a first-team choice after anchoring the backline for the Division 1 state champions. The center back had four goals and led the way for a defense that posted 17 clean sheets.

Senior midfielder Kelsey Jahn was vital to Oregon's unbeaten season and run to the Division 2 title in its first state appearance. The Valparaiso recruit scored a team-high 30 goals and added eight assists for the Panthers (23-0-1).

Kettle Moraine senior midfielder Julia Zach, who will play at Minnesota State-Mankato, had 13 goals and 16 assists as the Lasers advanced to the Division 1 state final before a 1-0 double-overtime loss to D.C. Everest.

Milwaukee DSHA was the only team with more than one player on the First XI and had three representatives on the top team: senior forward Maria Kass, senior midfielder Eden Charles and junior defender Amanda Durst.

Kass, a St. Cloud State (Minn.) recruit, had 15 goals and six assists this season; Charles, who will play at Amherst (Mass.), added one goal; and Durst, who has verbally committed to Loyola (Ill.) for 2016, headed up a Dashers backline that recorded nine shutouts.

Junior defender Jenny Fischer rounded out the first team – she had five goals and three assists in helping Muskego claim its second straight Division 1 state berth.

Kitchell, Jahn, Zach, Kass and Charles joined Lentz and Rhodes as first-team selections who were Best of the Rest picks in 2014. Sixty-nine players were named to the Best of the Rest this year.

Two forwards who were First XI choices last spring didn't make the all-state team this season: Catholic Memorial junior Emily Cervantes, the WSCA Player of the Year in 2013 and '14, and D.C. Everest senior Maddie Mittelsteadt.

Cervantes, who has verbally committed to Tennessee for 2016, was limited to 19 appearances because of a knee injury, but still had 31 goals and nine assists for the state champion Crusaders. Mittelsteadt, headed to the University of Wisconsin in the fall, had 21 goals and five assists in helping the Evergreens to a state title.
