June 24, 2003: Dan Stebbins (Milwaukee King) scored in the 86th minute and Matt Schmidt (Racine Horlick/UW-Milwaukee) posted the clean sheet as Bavarian SC knocked off the Reading Rage of the USL Pro Select League 1-0 in a second-round match of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Bavarian Field in Glendale. Defender Jon Coleman (UW-Milwaukee) started the sequence, hustling to win the ball near the sideline and then playing it to Nick Igel streaking down the right side while sitting down on the field. Igel played it to Stebbins, whose first-time shot from 8 yards out beat Rage goalkeeper Randall Moate. The victory sent the Bavarians into a third-round matchup against the Milwaukee Wave United of the USL A-League – a Milwaukee Derby match.
