Maegan Kelly (Marquette) scored her first league goal and set up two others and older sister Katie Kelly (Marquette) added an assist as Åland United thumped host Merilappi United 4-1 in a Naisten Liiga match Thursday in Kemi, Finland.

The younger Kelly gave the visitors a 2-0 lead with her goal in the 38th minute, her fifth in seven appearances overall for Åland United (4-1-0 in league play). Rebekah Roller (Brookfield East) played the full 90 minutes for Merilappi United (1-3-1).

  • The AFC Ajax women's team closed out its season Wednesday with a 3-2 loss to FC Twente in the Dutch Cup final, but Alex Melin (Verona) wasn't part of the match after leaving the club. Melin, who signed with Ajax in September, wrote in a text message Thursday that she decided to depart the legendary club because she suffered "too many injuries." The 23-year-old midfielder played in seven games (one start) in the BeNe League for third-place Ajax and scored her first professional goal in her lone Cup appearance, a 4-0 win over DTS Ede on Feb. 14. • The Houston Dynamo loaned A.J. Cochran (UW) to the Charleston Battery, and the center back started and played 71 minutes in a 1-0 loss to FC Montreal in a USL match Thursday. Cochran, 22, made 19 appearances (14 starts) as a rookie last season, but has played only 35 minutes for the Major League Soccer side so far this year – he came on as a sub in a 1-1 draw against the Los Angeles Galaxy on March 21 – and has been an unused sub in 10 matches. • Calum Mallace (Marquette) set up Kenny Cooper's 25th-minute goal as the Montreal Impact lost to host Toronto FC 3-2 in the second leg of a Canadian Championship semifinal series Tuesday, but advanced on away goals after the teams tied 3-3 on aggregate. Mallace controlled a corner kick by Eric Miller in the box and fired on goal, and Cooper redirected the shot past TFC goalkeeper Chris Konopka. Mallace played 68 minutes for the Impact, who will face the Vancouver Whitecaps or FC Edmonton in the finals in August. The winner earns a berth in the 2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League – Montreal advanced to the 2014-15 finals before falling to Mexico's Club America last month. On Twitter: @CMallace10
