Two Wisconsin teams won their respective groups at the Capital Area Soccer League Boys College Showcase last weekend in North Carolina.

North Shore United's Under-17 side and the Bavarian SC Under-15 team each finished atop the Elite Black Division standings at the tournament, which was held in the Cary and Raleigh area in conjunction with the NCAA Men's College Cup.

NSU won all three of its matches, beating Michigan Impact White 1-0, Orlando City Youth Soccer Purple I 2-1 and South Carolina's Carolina Elite Soccer Academy Premier 4-2. The Bavarians, meanwhile, beat Atlanta Fire United Elite 3-0 in their opener and tipped Florida's Clay County SC Rangers Black 2-1 to close out the weekend following a 1-0 loss to host CASL Red on Saturday.

The Elm Grove Blues Under-19s also played at the Showcase, posting a 0-2-1 record and finished second in its three-team group in the Elite Red Division. They played North Carolina's Triangle FC Alliance to a 1-1 draw and lost to Canada's Bolton Wanderers Academy Black 2-1 and Florida's Boca United FC 5-1.

  • The two older FC Wisconsin Nationals teams wrapped up the fall portion of their U.S. Soccer Development Academy seasons earlier this month at the USSDA Winter Showcase in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The Nationals' Under-17/18 team played the Texas Rush to a 1-1 draw on Nov. 30, sandwiched around one-goal losses to New York's Albertson SC on Nov. 29 and Connecticut's Beachside SC Academy on Dec. 3. Osvaldo Ramirez (West De Pere) continued his fine form, scoring in the 4-3 loss to Albertson and finding an 81st-minute equalizer against the Texas Rush – that gave him goals in four consecutive matches for the Nationals (3-6-3). Abdul Kooistra (Madison Memorial), a University of Wisconsin recruit, and Blake Carr (Hartland Arrowhead) also scored against Albertson, while Tunji Akindes (Kenosha Bradford) had the lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Beachside. Ramirez and Carr share the team lead with four goals on the season, while Kooistra has three. In the Under-15/16 division, FC Wisconsin fell to California's FC Golden State 3-1 on Nov. 30, Virginia's Richmond United 2-1 on Dec. 1 and the San Diego Surf 3-0 on Dec. 3 to finish 4-8-0 during the fall. Luis Arreola scored his first goal of the season for the Nationals against FC Golden State, while Fernando Colon Jr. (Hartland Arrowead) scored against Richmond United. Michael Carreon Jr. (Kimberly) led the team with six goals this fall, while Colon had five. FC Wisconsin Nationals will resume their Development Academy season in the spring, with their first matches currently scheduled for March 21. Schedules, results, rosters and goal-scorers

Mequon United lost all three of its games in group play, falling to the Virginia Alliance 2-0, Florida's Orlando City SC 1-0 and New York's Long Island Rough Riders 2-1.
