Tony Walls (Wauwatosa East/UW-Green Bay) and J.C. Banks (Milwaukee Riverside/UW-Green Bay) are in their second season as indoor teammates with the Milwaukee Wave and played together with the Rochester Rhinos last summer.
But it looks like the longtime friends will go their separate ways for the outdoor season in 2015.
The Rochester Rhinos announced last week that they exercised their 2015 option on Walls (photo right), bringing back the defender-midfielder after his impressive first season with the USL PRO club.
The 24-year-old helped anchor a backline that allowed just 25 goals in 28 league matches – the second-lowest total in USL PRO – and was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year. Walls logged a team-best 2,217 minutes in league play and contributed one goal and two assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
Banks also had a great season, earning second-team All-USL PRO honors after scoring nine goals (10th in the league) and adding three assists in 25 appearances in his fourth year with the Rhinos.
However, agent Eddie Rock of Libero Sports tweeted that Banks, 25, will be joining a North American Soccer League club for the 2015 season. (See tweet) Rock declined to identify the team in a follow-up tweet, and Banks wrote in a Twitter direct message that he couldn't comment until the paperwork was finalized.
