In the middle of a relegation battle, every point is important to Swedish club Landskrona BoIS. And Andrew Stadler (Wauwatosa West) gave them one Sunday.

Stadler scored his 13th goal of the season in the 87th minute as Landskrona pulled out a 1-1 draw with host Assyriska FF in a Superettan match.

The point allowed Landskrona (6-16-6) to stay in 14th place in the 16-team second division, one point ahead of Assyriska with two games remaining. The bottom two teams in the league will be relegated to Division 1 for next season, while the 13th- and 14th-place finishers will need to win playoff series to keep their spots.

Fredrik Karlsson played a ball in from the left side and Stadler provided a left-footed finish for the clutch goal. Stadler is tied for fifth in the league in goals.

  • Goalkeeper Matt Pyzdrowski (Marquette), center back Eric Pothast (Marquette) and Ängelholms FF lost to visiting IK Sirius FK 2-0 on Sunday, but remain in 12th place in the Superettan. Ängelholms (9-13-6) is two points ahead of 13th-place Östers IF as it looks to avoid having to play in the relegation playoffs. On Twitter: @MattPyzdrowski @Eric_Pothast
  • At the top of the Superettan table, Ljungskile SK – with starting keeper Alex Horwath (UW) and reserve midfielder Aaron Nichols (UW) – scored in the 6th minute of second-half stoppage time to pull out a 2-1 win over last-place Husqvarna FF last Friday. LSK (15-2-11) is in third place, one point behind Hammarby (17-6-5) and GIF Sundsvall (18-7-3) in the three-team battle for the title. The top two finishers earn automatic promotion to the Allsvenskan for 2015, while the third-place team faces a playoff series for a shot at promotion. On Twitter: @AlexHorwath
  • Keeper Michele Dalton (UW) didn't play as Kvarnsvedens IK closed out the season with a 4-1 loss to host IF Limhamn Bunkeflo on Saturday in the Elitettan, Sweden's second division women's league. She posted a 1.19 goals-against average and seven clean sheets for Kvarnsvedens (14-8-4), which finished fifth in the 14-team league. Dalton posted some of her season highlights on YouTube. (Watch below) On Twitter: @MicheleDalton18
  • Shannon Smyth (Mequon/Milwaukee DSHA) and Amazon Grimstad came up with a big victory Sunday in Norway's Toppserien, beating host Medkila 3-1 to clinch 11th place in the 12-team first division. For the second straight year, Amazon Grimstad will play a playoff series against the second-place finisher from the 1. Division for a spot in the Toppserien next season – they'll face either Urædd or Sarpsborg 08 in the two-leg series. However, Amazon Grimstad's victory coupled with a 2-1 loss to Arna-Bjørnar means that Katie Bethke (Eau Claire Memorial) and Grand Bodø (1-16-4) will finish last and are relegated for 2015. Rosie Malone-Povolny (Marquette) and Medkila (4-14-3) will finish 10th, regardless of the results in Saturday's season finales. On Twitter: @ShannonSmyth @kbethke3
  • Charles Kazlauskas (Milwaukee Thomas More) missed Helmond Sport's 2-2 draw with Ajax II last Friday in the Netherlands because of injury, but is expected to return to his spot in the midfield for Friday's second-division Jupiler League match at Almere City. Kazlauskas was involved in a bizarre incident earlier this month, as he was tripped by VVV Venlo manager Maurice Steijn while taking a throw-in during a match Oct. 3. (Watch video below) Steijn was suspended for two games.
  • Alex Melin (Verona) made her first professional start last Friday as the Ajax women beat PEC Zwolle 3-1 in Amsterdam. The midfielder played the full 90 minutes in her fifth appearance for Ajax (6-2-0), which is second in the 13-team BeNe League.
  • Ethan Finlay (Marshfield) kept up his recent hot streak Sunday, scoring for the fifth time in six games and setting up both of the Columbus Crew's other goals in a 3-1 win over the New York Red Bulls in Harrison, N.J. (Watch the highlights below) Finlay has 11 goals – tied for 12th in Major League Soccer – and seven assists in 28 appearances (20 starts) for the Crew (13-10-10), who have clinched an Eastern Conference playoff berth and close out the regular season Sunday against the Philadelphia Union.
