Two Wisconsin teams advanced to Tuesday's semifinals of the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Championships in Beavercreek, Ohio, both from SC Waukesha.

The club's Under-16 boys team and Under-15 girls side each went unbeaten through pool play the past three days to claim semifinal berths. The regional finals are scheduled for Wednesday, with the winners advancing to the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships from July 22 to 27 in Germantown, Md.

On the boys side, Connor Alba (Waukesha Catholic Memorial) scored his second goal of the tournament in the 35th minute Monday as SC Waukesha Blue tipped Indiana's Fort Wayne United West Heat Elite 2-1 to finish 2-0-1 and atop Group D – one point ahead of the Ohio Galaxies (2-1-0). The team will play Chicago Magic Pre-Academy (2-1-0) in the semifinals at 7 a.m. Central on Tuesday.

Alba scored the equalizer in SC Waukesha's 1-1 draw against Michigan's Grand Rapids Crew Juniors on Saturday, and Griffin Jende (Pewaukee) and Greg Cobus (Waukesha West) had the goals in a 2-1 win over the Galaxies on Sunday. Mesele Ruhland (Delafield St. John's) opened the scoring for the team in the 4th minute on Monday before the Indiana team levelled in the 33rd.

The SC Waukesha Blue Under-15 girls relied on a solid defense to post a 1-0-2 mark and win Group D, posting clean sheets in two of three matches.

Tori Magolan (Mukwonago) and Kylie Sprecher (Menomonee Falls) scored in the 29th and 36th minutes, respectively, in a 2-0 victory over Cleveland FC on Saturday, and Lauren Torhorst (Waterford) gave SC Waukesha the lead in the 8th minute of a 1-1 tie against Illinois' NSA Rockets on Sunday.

A scoreless tie with Kansas Rush Wolves Academy on Monday gave SC Waukesha five points, one more than the Ohio and Kansas teams (1-1-1).

The other 13 state teams that qualified for the 13-state event headed home after group play – only the group winners advanced to the semifinals in most of the 14 divisions.

SC Waukesha's Under-13 boys team came incredibly close to moving on.

After losing to Nebraska's NFC Blue 1-0 in its opener, the club's Chelsea team won its final two matches to finish 2-1-0 and ended up a three-way tie for the Group A title. However, St. Louis Scott Gallagher claimed the semifinal berth thanks to goal differential – the Missouri side was plus-5, while SC Waukesha was plus-4.
