The same four teams that entered the Wisconsin Open Cup last fall entered this spring's state Amateur Cup.
But the two sides that made the Open Cup final – and have contested most of the recent state cup finals – were drawn together this time around.
The draw held Wednesday shows defending champion Croatian Eagles playing at Bavarian SC in one semifinal May 10 in Glendale, while Sport Club plays host to North Shore United in Menomonee Falls.
The winners will meet in the final May 17 – as reigning champions, Croatians would host that match in Franklin if they advance. If the Bavarians make the final, there will be another draw to determine the site of the final.
However, both finalists will earn berths in the U.S. Adult Soccer Association Region II finals, which are June 13 to 15 in Westfield, Ind. The regional champion qualifies for the USASA national semifinals from July 24 to 27 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Croatians lead the Wisconsin Soccer Leagues Major Division with a 7-0-1 record, and beat Bavarians twice last fall: 3-1 in the Open Cup final and 5-1 in league play. Sport Club (7-2-0), the reigning Majors champions, is second in the standings. North Shore is 9-1-0 and in second place in the WSL First Division – they've outscored league foes 62-9, but lost to Croatians 5-0 in the Open Cup semifinals last fall.
