Twenty Wisconsin players were selected for U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Olympic Development Program holdover pools after camps the past two weeks in De Kalb, Ill.

Fifteen boys and five girls from the state were named to the holdover pools, from which the regional ODP rosters are selected. That's the best showing for Wisconsin players at the annual ODP camps in the past five years, according to state ODP administrator Mike Walby.

U.S. SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY

Four teams playing at the Development Academy Finals Week in Houston have players with ties to Wisconsin.

Under-15/16

Defender Bayley Scholz (Kimberly) and his Real Salt Lake-Arizona side are in Group 1 and blanked New York's Albertson SC 3-0 in their opener Sunday, though Scholz didn't get into the match. They play the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday and Texans SC Houston on Thursday before placement matches on Saturday.

Under-17/18

Three teams with players who will play college soccer in the state starting next month are all playing in Group 2.

California's De Anza Force knocked off St. Louis Scott Gallagher 3-1 on Sunday in a match that feature three future University of Wisconsin teammates: Skyler Felt played 85 minutes for the victors, while Brian Hail started and went 71 minutes for the Missouri side before being replaced by fellow Badger recruit Nick Jones. UW-Green Bay recruit Conner Sendobry also came on for Scott Gallagher in the 75th minute.

Minnesota's Shattuck-St. Mary's, meanwhile, opened the tournament with a 3-2 victory over the New England Revolution. Defender Valdis Upmalis played the full 90 for Shattuck, but fellow Green Bay recruit Eddosa Muhammad was an unused sub.

Shattuck faces Scott Gallagher on Tuesday – the Minnesota side took four of six points from the teams' Central Conference Mid-America Division meetings in the regular season – while De Anza plays the Revolution. The Force meet Shattuck and Scott Gallagher plays New England in group finales Thursday, with placement matches scheduled for Sunday.

Saturday's Under-15/16 and Under-17/18 championship matches will be streamed live on the U.S. Soccer website.

• Real Salt Lake-Arizona forward Jose "Coco" Navarro, an incoming Marquette freshman, was named to the Under-17/18 All-West Conference team for the 2012-13 season. Navarro tied for sixth in the nation with 21 goals in 27 matches.
