FC Wisconsin Nationals advance to USASA Women's Under-23 final

FC Wisconsin Nationals, a team comprised mainly of Marquette and UW-Milwaukee players, will play for the U.S. Adult Soccer Association Women's Under-23 national championship on Sunday morning.

The Nationals will meet St. Louis Scott Gallagher in the 9 a.m. final in Overland Park, Kan.– several players on the FC Wisconsin roster were part of the FC Milwaukee team that lost to the KC Dynamos 5-1 in last year's final.

The finalists have dominated the six-team competition, with the Nationals outscoring three foes 12-0 and Scott Gallagher beating its opponents by a combined 22-1 score.

FC Wisconsin opened the tournament with a 4-0 win over Woodbury SC (Minn.) on Friday and routed the Louisiana Select team 6-0 on Saturday morning. Marquette's Kate Reigle (Brookfield East) and Iowa's Alex Melin (Verona) then had goals in a 2-0 win over the Houston Aces on Saturday afternoon. Olivia Hoff (Whitefish Bay/UW) has been in goal for the three shutouts.

Scott Gallagher also beat the Louisiana Select team 9-0 and the Houston Aces 5-0.
