It was a rough weekend for FC Milwaukee's teams in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.
The Nationals' Under-17/18 and Under-15/16 sides each lost both of their matches in Michigan, falling to Vardar SC Freiburg on Saturday in Detroit and the Crew Soccer Academy Wolves on Sunday in Livonia.
In the older age group, FC Milwaukee fell behind 2-0 after just 19 minutes Saturday against Vardar (4-0-2), but pulled one back through Jordan Moss (Appleton West) in the 56th. However, the home side got goals from Jason Carmack in the 81st and Conor Bright in the 86th to seal the victory.
The Nationals (0-6-0) kept the match against Wolves (2-2-2) scoreless into the final 20 minutes, but goals by Zack Atwood in the 73rd and Matt Wilson in the 90th sunk the visitors. It was the fourth time FC Milwaukee has been shut out this season, and the team stands 12th in the 13-team Central Conference Mid-America Division.
The Under-15/16 team also faced an early deficit on Saturday, as Vardar (4-0-2) scored three times in the opening half hour. Nicholas Moon (Waukesha West) got the Nationals on the board in the 34th and Alex Masbruch (Slinger) added another goal in the 80th, but it wasn't enough.
Wolves (5-0-1) moved to the top of the Mid-America Division with its 1-0 victory over FC Milwaukee on Sunday, with Alec Greene scoring the lone goal in the 63rd. The Nationals (2-3-1) are seventh in the 13-team division.
The Nationals are off this weekend before playing host to the Chicago Fire on Oct. 27 and Indiana Fire Academy on Oct. 28 on their home turf in Germantown.
