Ethan Finlay (Marshfield) earned one of the most prestigious awards from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The Creighton senior forward, a consensus All-American who was the leading scorer for the NCAA College Cup semifinalist Blue Jays, was named the NSCAA men's Collegiate Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Finlay led the Missouri Valley Conference with 14 goals and 34 points this season, and ranks fifth in Creighton history and seventh in MVC history with 43 goals and sixth and 10th, respectively, with 103 points.
One of three finalists for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, given to the country's top player, he also has a 3.40 grade-point average in business administration.
Finlay headed up the University Division All-Scholar first team, while two state players were honored in the College Division. Carleton (Minn.) senior midfielder Ryan Cammarota (Neenah), a 3.70 student majoring in chemistry, made the second team and UW-Oshkosh senior midfielder Tim Stadler (Wauwatosa West), a geology major who carries a 3.48 GPA, was a third-team selection.
- Finlay, Cammarota and Stadler were among nine state players honored on the NSCAA All-North/Central Region Scholar teams. Finlay's teammate, junior midfielder Andrew Ribeiro (Green Bay Notre Dame), and Marquette senior defender Michael Alfano (Sussex Hamilton) were second-team selections on the University Division team. Ribeiro has a 3.41 GPA as a nursing major, while Alfano already graduated with a 3.38 GPA in marketing and started graduate school in the fall. Cammarota and Stadler were joined by three players on the College Division first team: UW-Platteville senior defender Anthony Heller (McFarland), who has a 3.75 GPA in business administration; Macalester (Minn.) sophomore midfielder Robin Forslund (Madison Memorial), who hasn't declared a major but has a 3.58 GPA; and Milwaukee School of Engineering senior midfielder Dan Hosko, a 3.77 student majoring in architectural engineering. Marian junior forward Everett Zank (Sun Prairie), who has a 3.98 GPA in criminal justice, was an honorable mention choice on the all-region team.
- Finlay was one of 11 players named to the first team of the Soccer America men's MVP team, essentially the publication's All-America team. UW-Milwaukee senior forward Sarah Hagen (Appleton North) made the women's MVP team, while Marquette forward C. Nortey was a second-team selection on the men's All-Freshman team.

Viterbo sophomore forward Steph Wisen (Wisconsin Rapids), who had 11 goals and four assists in 18 matches for the V-Hawks, was named to the NSCAA women's All-Plains Region team.
NCCAA
Northland International senior midfielder Daniel Doran, junior defender Jason Lorch and sophomore midfielder Josh Netz, who helped the Pioneers advance to the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II national championship game, were named to the NSCAA Division II All-America men's team.
Doran ranked second in the country with 15 assists and ended up seventh with 41 points, Netz was fourth nationally with 17 goals and Lorch anchored a Northland International backline that posted 14 shutouts in 23 games. Doran and Lorch also were honored on the team last season.
- Faith Baptist sophomore goalkeeper Laura Fowler (Rice Lake) and Maranatha Baptist junior forward Karis Rogers made the NSCAA women's All-America team. Fowler ranked fourth in the country with a 1.60 goals-against average, while Rogers was third in the nation in points per game (2.00) and fifth in goals (14) as she was named an All-American for the second straight year.
