Kron, Chaney top All-Wisconsin squad PDF Print E-mail

National Soccer Coaches Association of AmericaUW-Whitewater senior forward Kevin Kron was honored as the Offensive Player of the Year and UW-Oshkosh senior defender Will Chaney (Cedarburg) took the defensive award on the NCAA Division III men's All-Wisconsin State team, selected by the state's National Soccer Coaches Association of America members.

Kron and Chaney claimed the same accolades from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Kron had 10 goals and three assists for the Warhawks, who won the WIAC title for the third time in the league's three-year history, and was a first-team choice on the NSCAA Division III All-North Region team. Chaney was a second-team all-region pick.

Steve Domin, who led Carthage to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular-season and tournament titles and a berth in the NCAA tournament, was voted Coach of the Year. St. Norbert sophomore defender Tommy Purdom was the Sportsman of the Year.

Carthage led the way with three players on the 14-member first team, while Whitewater, Midwest Conference regular-season and tournament champion Carroll and Oshkosh each had two first-team selections.

Forwards: Brandon Chmiel, sr., UW-Platteville (Cedarburg); Kevin Kron, sr., UW-Whitewater; Jordan Wickman, sr., Carroll; Jackson Wilkins, jr., Beloit College.

Offensive Player of the Year: Kevin Kron, UW-Whitewater. Defensive Player of the Year: Will Chaney, UW-Oshkosh. Sportsman of the Year: Tommy Purdom, St. Norbert. Coach of the Year: Steve Domin, Carthage.
