NCAAJunior midfielder Andrew Ribeiro (Green Bay Notre Dame) scored his fourth goal of the season – and fourth game-winner – as second-ranked Creighton scored twice in the opening 20 minutes and held off No. 13 UC Santa Barbara 2-1 Sunday in Omaha, Neb., to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.

The Bluejays (20-2-0), seeded second in the 48-team tournament, will play host to No. 12 South Florida (13-3-4) next weekend for a berth in the College Cup semifinals.

Ribeiro ripped a shot past Gauchos goalkeeper Andre Grandt from 8 yards out off a set piece in the 19th minute. Jose Gomez served a corner kick into the box, and Greg Jordan headed the ball down to set up Ribeiro.

Another Wisconsin native played a key role in Creighton's opener, as UCSB's Sam Garza was called for pulling back senior forward Ethan Finlay (Marshfield) in the box in the eighth minute. Bruno Castro stepped to the spot and converted to give the Bluejays the early lead.

David Opoku cut the lead in half with a header for the Gauchos (15-7-1) in the 79th minute, but Creighton held on to remain unbeaten at home this season (13-0-0).
