College menThe Marquette, UW-Milwaukee and UW-Green Bay men's soccer teams all ended the week with the same number of wins as losses for the year. But they each got there in different ways.

The Golden Eagles extended their unbeaten streak with a draw and a win. Meanwhile, the Horizon League rival Panthers and Phoenix hooked up for a thrilling Chancellor's Cup match in midweek then had disappointing results on the weekend.

Get all the highlights in our weekly recap.

MarquetteMarquette (4-4-1, 2-0-0 Big East)

Wednesday: Golden Eagles 1, Wisconsin 1. Match recap

Saturday: Golden Eagles 2, Rutgers 0. Sophomore midfielder Bryan Ciesiulka created both goals, scoring his first of the season and seeing his cross turned into the net for an own goal, as Marquette blanked the Scarlet Knights (4-4-1, 1-1-0) in a Big East Conference match at Valley Fields to extend its unbeaten streak to five. Ciesiulka volleyed in a cross from junior Anthony Selvaggi in the 14th minute to open the scoring, and the Golden Eagles made it 2-0 in the 32nd when an attempted clearance by a Rutgers defender ended up in the Scarlet Knights' net. Junior goalkeeper David Check (Mequon Homestead) and the Marquette backline did the rest, as Check made four saves in his first shutout of the season and the seventh of his career. Associate coach Stan Anderson led the Golden Eagles in the match as Louis Bennett was suspended after receiving a red card in Wednesday's match.

UW-Green BayUW-Green Bay (4-4-1, 1-2-0 Horizon)

Wednesday: UW-Milwaukee 3, Phoenix 2 (2OT). Green Bay took the lead twice in the first half at Engelmann Stadium, but saw the Panthers (5-4-0, 2-0-0) equalize each time and then win the Chancellor's Cup with 7 seconds left in the second overtime on a goal by Cody Banks (Madison Memorial). "It's certainly disappointing. It's an obvious example that you have to play every second of every game," Phoenix coach Kris Kelderman said after his first match in the rivalry. Green Bay senior midfielder Tony Patterson (Menomonee Falls) opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 14th, finishing off a pass from sophomore midfielder Lawrence Talery with a header past UWM freshman keeper Josh Rohde (Waukesha West). Then in the 33rd, freshman forward Kirby Allen (Appleton North) broke in on the left side of the box and fired a shot on frame that deflected past Rohde to give the Phoenix a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime. Junior keeper Ryan Wehking finished with seven saves, including a fingertip stop in the final 10 minutes of regulation, but could do nothing about Banks' last-second, first-time finish. "We just didn't play to the end. They played a good ball in, we got beat and they got a free shot on goal," Wehking said. "We had chances, we could have finished them in the first half, we had a couple of mistakes that could have been prevented they took their chances."

Saturday: Illinois-Chicago 3, Phoenix 1. Wehking was sent off for taking down Ivan Stanisavljevic in the 14th minute, and Stanisavljevic went on to record his second hat trick of the year as the host Flames (6-2-2, 1-0-0) held off 10-man Green Bay in a Horizon match. Junior keeper Travis Meikle (Monona Grove) came on for his season debut to face Stanisavljevic at the penalty spot, and the junior from Serbia converted to open the scoring. He doubled the lead in the 54th, finishing off a give-and-go with Eric Frazier, but the Phoenix pulled one back 20 minutes later as junior defender Andrew Stone (Green Bay Preble) headed in a free kick from senior midfielder Stuart Grable (Neenah) for his first of the season. The combination of Frazier and Stanisavljevic, though, ended Green Bay's hopes of rescuing a point when they hooked up again in the 87th. Meikle finished with six saves in 76 minutes – he had two saves in 33 minutes in his career coming into the night.

UW-MilwaukeeUW-Milwaukee (5-5-0, 2-1-0 Horizon)

Wednesday: Panthers 3, UW-Green Bay 2 (2OT). Banks' first goal of the season was a dramatic one, as he finished off an impressive sequence in the final seconds with the game-winner to give UWM the Chancellor's Cup for the first time since 2007. With time winding down, senior Keegan Ziada had the ball on the right flank and switched it over to freshman Nick Langford on the right side. Langford headed the back across the box to Banks, who left-footed a shot past Wehking to win it with 7 seconds left. "Coach (Chris) Whalley told me 'If you get that chance, make sure you take it,' and I've been working on my finishing all week and it paid off," said Banks, who had re-entered the match just three minutes earlier. "It feels amazing winning in overtime like that. I knew Nick is good in the air so I called for it and he did a great job laying it off for me. All I had to do was just put it away." Langford scored the Panthers' first equalizer in the 23rd on a free kick from just outside the box and junior Jamie Bladen tied it again with his first UWM goal in the 49th after picking up a loose ball after an attempted clearance. Rohde made seven saves in his second straight start, including impressive stops on Allen's 20-yard strike and a shot by Talery in an 18-second span early in the first overtime. "The guys showed great character there at the end," Whalley said after his team's second Cup victory of the season, following a win over city rival Marquette in the annual Milwaukee Cup match. "It's been an up-and-down season, we've lost three games when we have been winning late, so maybe perhaps our luck just turned a bit."

Saturday: Cleveland State 3, Panthers 2. A furious, second-half comeback came up just short as UWM lost to the Vikings (3-6-1, 1-1-1) in a Horizon match at Engelmann. The Panthers, who trailed 3-0 after Admir Suljevic's 67th-minute goal, outshot Cleveland State 17-6 in the second half and put 10 of those shots on frame but couldn't solve keeper Brad Stuver until the final minutes. Banks converted from the penalty spot in the 87th after a foul on a corner kick and freshman defender Adam Hutchinson collected his first career goal in the 89th, finishing after Stuver made back-to-back stops on shots by Banks and Ross Van Osdol. Stuver finished with eight saves and the Vikings also cleared a ball off the line as they ended a six-game winless streak. "It was disappointing tonight because we gave up three goals on defensive mistakes, but ultimately missed a lot of chances," Whalley said. "We just have to move on from this and realize we are 2-1 in conference play and off to a great start to the conference season. We can’t hang our heads."
