MarquetteMarquette (5-1-0)

Friday: No. 7 Florida State 3, No. 11 Golden Eagles 1. In a rematch of an NCAA third-round match from last season, Marquette had a 12-6 advantage in shots but suffered its first loss of the season to the Seminoles (4-1-0) in Tallahassee, Fla. "These games come down to inches and missed opportunities," said Golden Eagles coach Markus Roeders, who saw Florida State score on all three of their shots on goal. "It was a good game for us with a disappointing result." Marquette fell behind in the eighth minute when Tori Huster redirected a throw-in past senior goalkeeper Natalie Kulla, but equalized through Britney Scott in the 49th. The sophomore midfielder one-timed a pass from Lindsey Page past Florida State keeper Kelsey Wys from 20 yards out for her first career goal. The Seminoles regained the lead in the 65th thanks to junior forward Jessica Price. With a Golden Eagles defender trying to shepherd the ball over the end line, Price darted in and picked it up, then slotted a shot between the post and the onrushing Kulla. Marquette nearly found another equalizer, but a shot by senior forward Rachael Sloan hit the crossbar and Wys made a fine save to deny junior defender Ally Miller (Mequon Homestead) in the 88th. Belgian forward Janice Cayman added an insurance goal in the 90th minute, catching Kulla off her line and scoring from 30 yards out, to extend Florida State's home unbeaten streak to 13.

Sunday: No. 11 Golden Eagles 9, North Dakota 0. Back home at Valley Fields, Marquette unleashed its frustration on the Fighting Sioux (2-3-0) as sophomore Maegan Kelly tied program records for goals (four) and points (10) in a match. Kelly scored her third goal of the season just 63 seconds into the match and had a hat trick in the opening 17 minutes. Six players scored and 11 recorded points for the Golden Eagles, who had a 39-4 advantage in shots in the rout. Sophomore Kate Reigle (Brookfield East) had a goal and two assists as Marquette matched the second-best offensive output in school history – the Golden Eagles also beat Sacred Heart 9-0 on Aug. 27, 2006. The team record was set in a 10-1 win over Purdue on Sept. 1, 1998.

UW-Green BayUW-Green Bay (2-3-2)

Wednesday: Phoenix 0, South Dakota 0. Senior keeper Maddie Drusch (Appleton Xavier) made 10 saves in her third shutout of the season, but Green Bay was held scoreless for the third straight game in a draw with the Coyotes (0-2-1) in Vermillion, S.D. "Maddie played another great game and came up with a couple of big saves to keep us in it," said Phoenix coach Trevor Warren, who had eight freshmen in his starting lineup. "I’m happy with our back four to be able to shut out another team. We now need to continue to work on converting on our chances offensively to help out our defense."

Friday: Phoenix 3, North Dakota 1. Icelandic sophomore forward Hekla Palmadottir scored her third goal of the season and assisted on the first collegiate goals by freshmen Jenna Harrington (Madison La Follette) and Abby Juzwik (Verona) as Green Bay surged past the Fighting Sioux (2-2-0) at Santaga Stadium. Harrington scored on a header off a free kick by Palmadottir in the 8th minute and Juzwik doubled the lead in the 38th with a point-blank finish after a pass from Palmadottir. The converted defender finished off the victory with a breakaway in the 70th, running onto a through ball from freshman Hannah Kernen (Belleville/Sugar River) and finishing nine minutes after North Dakota had pulled within one. "I was really pleased with our performance tonight," Warren said. "We came out flying and ready to go. We just seemed to be quicker, more aggressive and our thought process great."

Sunday: North Dakota State 1, Phoenix 0. Brooklyn Dyce headed a corner kick from Abbey Moenkedick past Drusch in the 35th minute for the lone goal as the Bison (3-1-0) got past Green Bay at Santaga Stadium. "I think we gave them a lot to handle," Warren said. "North Dakota State is a good team that went to the NCAA playoffs last year and I thought we looked like the better team for most of the first half. It was tough playing our third game of the week, and I think we lost our legs a little bit as the game went on."

UW-MilwaukeeUW-Milwaukee (6-0-0)

Friday: Minnesota Gold Classic – No. 22 Panthers 2, Iowa State 0. Forward Sarah Hagen (Appleton North) continued her stellar senior season, scoring the first goal on a free kick and setting up freshman Kelly Lewers for the other as UWM knocked off the Cyclones (3-1-1) in Minneapolis. Hagen became the first player to score against Iowa State in the 22nd minute when she fired a free kick from just outside the box past goalkeeper Maddie Jobe for her sixth of the season. Then in the 56th, Hagen beat a defender and whipped in a cross that Lewers finished with a diving header for her third goal. Junior keeper Jamie Forbes stopped four shots in her third shutout of the season.

Sunday: Minnesota Gold Classic – No. 22 Panthers 1, Minnesota 0. Forbes turned in an impressive performance with 11 saves in her third straight clean sheet and Hagen delivered her seventh goal of the year in the 76th minute as UWM got past the host Golden Gophers (2-3-0) to match a program record with its sixth straight win to start the season. "It was an exciting game, sometimes a little too exciting for my liking," Panthers coach Michael Moynihan said. "I thought we had some dangerous chances that we just didn't convert, as did they, but I thought Jamie Forbes was up to the task when she was called on. She played fantastic. She was a real force back there with a great presence and made some big stops." UWM got the lone goal on a set piece, with senior Keara Thompson serving in a free kick that Hagen headed past Minnesota keeper Cat Parkhill for her 74th career goal, extending her school record. Hagen was named the offensive MVP of the tournament and was joined by Forbes and senior midfielder Makenzie Gillaspie on the all-tournament team.
