The college soccer season kicks off Friday, with all four of the state's NCAA Division I women's teams in action.
Two of the sides are at home: No. 12 Marquette plays host to Western Michigan at Valley Fields, while UW-Green Bay and its 13-member freshman class welcome Nebraska-Omaha to Aldo Santaga Stadium for the Mavericks' first match as a Division I program.
The University of Wisconsin, meanwhile, travels to South Bend, Ind., to take on reigning national champion and preseason No. 1 Notre Dame, while UW-Milwaukee heads to East Lansing for a match against a Michigan State team picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten Conference.
Here's a quick look at Wisconsin's Division I teams:
Marquette
Coach: Markus Roeders, 16th season (218-85-34).
2010 record: 16-5-3 overall, 11-0-0 Big East Conference American Division (first). Lost to South Florida 3-2 in Big East tournament semifinals. Lost to Florida State 3-0 in third round of NCAA tournament.
