"We worked hard and created a lot of chances, we just couldn’t finish."
Up next: at Missouri State, 7:30 p.m. Friday; at Oral Roberts, noon Sunday.
UW-Milwaukee (1-1-1)
Wednesday: Panthers 4, Marquette 2.
Match report
Saturday: Panthers 0, New Hampshire 0. The Panthers had a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal, but couldn't solve Wildcats goalkeeper Colin O'Donnell and settled for the scoreless draw at the UNH Nike Classic.
Monday: Vermont 2, Panthers 1 (2OT). Nick O'Neill scored with 21 seconds left in the second overtime as the Catamounts (2-1) posted a dramatic victory. Vermont keeper Xan Rousselle saved a strike by UWM senior Greg Rosenthal and then a close-range follow up by freshman Edison Crespo (Milwaukee Hamilton) in the 97th, while Panthers sophomore Robert Jarosz cleared a shot off the line 32 seconds before the game-winner. Sophomore Andrew Wiedabach (Mequon Homestead) scored the equalizer for UWM in the 22nd after the Catamounts opened the scoring in the third minute. "It's just not good enough. We didn't play to the last whistle, so it's very, very disappointing," said Panthers coach Chris Whalley, whose team outshot Vermont 23-15. Wiedabach and freshman defender James Ashcroft made the all-tournament team.
Up next: at Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne, 4:30 p.m. Sept. 14.
