Some of the top girls soccer players in the Midwest will be playing in Madison this weekend.
An Elite Clubs National League Elite Player Development Program, featuring 45 players from FC Milwaukee, Minnesota Thunder Academy, Sockers FC-Chicago and St. Louis Scott Gallagher, will be held indoors at the McClain Facility on the University of Wisconsin campus.
Fifteen FC Milwaukee players were selected for the event, which includes training sessions and 9v9 games Saturday and Sunday. The Madison PDP is one of 10 scheduled across the country for ECNL clubs.
Players also will participate in the Nike Elite Training technical testing program and listen to a presentation from Lindsay Tarpley, a Madison native who has 32 goals in 125 career caps for the U.S. women's national team and played professionally in Women's Professional Soccer.

Voting for the award, including video clips of the 10 goals, will be available Monday on the U.S. Youth Soccer website and Facebook page.
- The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association is creating a Development Academy, modeled off the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. The state program will be tested next year with eight to 10 clubs, with WYSA working with directors of coaching to finalize the details. The Development Academy model emphasizes a higher training-to-match ratio and requires higher levels of licensing for coaches.
