The North Shore United Under-17 girls team closed the Disney Soccer Showcase in winning form.
The Cedarburg-based club doubled up North Carolina's NC Fusion Elite 4-2 on Monday in Orlando, Fla., to finish 1-2-0 in the Showcase Red Division of the elite tournament.
Coach Sinisa Angelovski's North Shore side, which is ranked 125th in the country, lost to Japan's JFA Academy Fukushima 4-0 in its opener on New Year's Eve and dropped a 2-1 decision to New York's Albertson SC Elite Fury 2-1 to ring in 2012.
- Fox Point's Jack Shaw (Chicago Fire Academy) and Grafton's Sam Kornetzke (North Shore United) were named to the Region II 1998 team for the Virginia Friendlies Olympic Development Program Tournament from Feb. 24 to 26 in Williamsburg, the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association reported.
