Dallas Cup XXXIIThe FC Milwaukee Under-14 boys team tied two of its group matches this week at the 32nd annual Dallas Cup.

The Nationals opened Group G on Sunday with a 3-1 loss to Milan FC Rossoneri from Hilmar, Calif., then played 1-1 draws with Lonestars Pre-USSF Academy of Austin, Texas, on Monday and Mana from Monterrey, Mexico, on Wednesday.

Lonestars Pre-USSF Academy (2-0-1) won the group, while FC Milwaukee finished third thanks to a better goal difference than Mana (minus-2 to minus-3).

In the Under-17 competition, Shattuck-St. Mary's (Minn.) – with three Wisconsin natives on its roster – finished last in Group G with a 0-2-1 mark.

Goalkeeper Dary Dewalt (Greendale), forward Austin Geisler (Racine) and defender-midfielder Blake Jones (Green Bay) play for the Sabres, who suffered one-goal losses to Florida's IMG Academy (2-1) and Mexico's Prepa Tec FB (3-2) before finishing with a scoreless draw against Texas' Andromeda USSF Academy team.

Real Salt Lake-Arizona, which has three players who are headed to play college soccer in Wisconsin, was third in Group C of the Under-19 Gordon Jago Super Group.

They fell to Mexican side Tigres 3-1 and Brazilian club Corinthians 4-1 and beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0. Tigres advanced to the final and will take on German club Eintracht Frankfurt for the title Sunday night.

Midfielder-forward Ricardo Velasco, a UW-Milwaukee recruit, scored both goals against the Whitecaps, one from the penalty spot. RSL-AZ defender Julio Alarcon also has signed with UW-Milwaukee, while goalkeeper Eduardo "Lalo" Fernandez will play at the University of Wisconsin.
