FC Milwaukee strike partners Sarah Hagen (Appleton North) and Laurie Nosbusch (Mequon Homestead) earned Women's Premier Soccer League plaudits again.
UW-Milwaukee's Hagen was named to the All-WPSL first team and Nosbusch, a standout at the University of Wisconsin, was a second-team selection, the second straight season the Nationals' forwards were so honored.
The duo once again formed a stellar partnership up front for FC Milwaukee (8-3-1 overall, 7-2-1 Midwest North), which advanced to the Midwest Conference final before falling to the Chicago Red Stars 4-0.
Hagen, the Midwest Co-Player of the Year, had 13 goals and Nosbusch added 10 as they accounted for 23 of the team's 29 goals – including all of the Nationals' 16 goals over their final six matches.
They were among six players to make one of the three WPSL honor teams for the second consecutive season. Abner Rogers, who led the Orange County Waves to a 2-1 extra-time victory over the Red Stars in the WPSL final, was named Coach of the Year.
