Women's Premier Soccer LeagueFor the second straight year, FC Milwaukee's Sarah Hagen (Appleton North) earned Midwest Conference Player of the Year honors from the Women's Premier Soccer League.

But this time around, the UW-Milwaukee star had to share the award.

Chicago Red Stars forward Michele Weissenhofer and Hagen were chosen Co-Players of the Year by conference coaches after their impressive seasons.

Hagen was second in the WPSL with 13 goals in just nine games, missing three matches because she was in Sweden with the U.S. Under-23 national team. Former pro Weissenhofer had 10 goals and 10 assists for the Red Stars, who beat FC Milwaukee 4-0 in the Midwest final and advanced to the WPSL championship game.

The strike duo of Hagen and University of Wisconsin standout Laurie Nosbusch (Mequon Homestead) both were named to the All-Midwest team for the second consecutive season. Nosbusch had 10 goals in 12 games as she and Hagen combined for 80 percent of the goals for the Nationals (8-3-1 overall).

FC Milwaukee, which finished second behind the Red Stars in the North Division, also landed Brittany Von Rueden on the all-conference team. The defender, who is heading into her senior year of high school at Milwaukee DSHA, was a member of the club's Under-18 team that won the U.S. Youth Soccer national championship and has verbally committed to play for Notre Dame in 2012.

Iowa midfielder Alex Melin (Verona), who played an integral role for the Madison 56ers, also made the All-Midwest team. Melin had two goals in five matches for the 56ers (2-6-2), missing five games as she traveled to Europe with a U.S. Youth Soccer Under-19 select team.

North Division players claimed seven of the 11 spots on the team.
