B.J. Gottschlich had a pair of goals as Milwaukee Sport Club dealt Croatian Eagles their first loss of the Wisconsin Adult Soccer Association Major League season with a 3-0 decision on Sunday afternoon.
Hans Borosch also scored and Matt Eisold recorded the shutout for Sport Club (7-4-2), which is tied with Bavarian SC for fourth place in the 10-team league – the final playoff position.
It was the first loss for the Croatians (10-1-1) in their past 20 matches against Majors foes, as they had been 18-0-1 against league teams – including cup competitions and playoffs – since a 3-2 loss to Bavarians on May 9, 2010. They still have a six-point lead atop the table, but second-place United Serbians (8-2-1) have a game in hand on the defending champions.
The Milwaukee Kickers (8-5-0) are one point behind with 24, just ahead of Bavarians and Sport Club.
-
Kyle Zenoni scored both goals as host Bavarians (7-3-2) tipped Milwaukee Brewers FC 2-1 to keep pace in the playoff chase. Reza Soleymani-Alizadeh had the goal for the Brewers.
-
Madison United doubled up the Kickers 4-2 at Warner Park in Madison to stay in the hunt. United (6-4-2) are three points behind the Bavarians and Sport Club, but like Bavarians have a game in hand.
